Thank you for contacting my firm. Your question is just impossible to answer. You did not specify the crime. I can tell you that a first time offender for murder will probably get more jail time than a first time offender for speeding. If you need me to be more specific I'm going to need you to call me for an appointment.

Thank you for your comment.

Unfortunately as a private attorney who dispenses legal advice and representation for a living I am unable to help you if you cannot afford to pay for representation. My suggestion is to contact your local legal services provider if you think you need representation and cannot afford it.

Good luck,

HELP! I have been going to councling for Bipolar and PTSD and now I have been arrested for shoplifting. I was given a fine of $660 and I have to see a probation officer and also I have to take 6 classes of shoplifting classes at $30 each. The shoplifting classes are at the same place i currently go to councling at. :( I am wondering if you have any idea if there is any help for me since I have a mental illness. I have not been working and I cannot afford to pay these fees. I need treatment and not fees. Please if you have any idea what to do, please tell me. I live in Mississippi.

What is the typical amount of jail time sentenced for a first time offender in Rankin County Mississippi, specifically. Also does this entire fine amount have to be paid at the time of court sentencing?
