Ms. Sunday:

Thank you for your comment. I apologize that you mistakenly read something into my comments above that made you think that I believe that law enforcement does not serve an important function. It does.

Very respectfully,

First of all, I'd like to point out to anyone saying that they didn't know it was illegal that the new law was very well advertised. Also, they can be very sure that the person who sold it to them knew it was illegal. AND, when you buy something advertised as potpourri, but you know you're supposed to smoke it - well, that's got to send up a few red flags right there.

Secondly, anyone charged with this felony can be grateful they were caught and charged rather than becoming one of the many people hospitalized after smoking it. It's dangerous. You can call it a marijuana substitute all day long, but the fact of the matter is that it is FAR more dangerous than marijuana. The synthetic cannabinoids are too concentrated; it can cause illness and violent seisures. Also, as an attorney, you MUST realize that most officers are far too busy too bother inventing excuses to persecute poor innocent law abiding citizens. I don't know ANY officer who sits around thinking,"You know, I could spend my day off fishing, but I'd much rather pass the time in court testifying in some silly trumped up case."

I realize that you, as an attorney, serve an important function. I just resent it when you make it sound like officers don't.
